Make a plan
A good rule of thumb is to do one thing at a time. There’s no point in doing more than you can handle, because it’s just going to get in the way. In terms of what we need to think about and what we need to make sure we’ve considered, I think there’s always a good reason to do multiple things simultaneously, but it’s a different case for every project, and it has to be weighed against the effort and time you might be able to spend on each activity. So the first thing to think about is whether or not you should have two things on your to-do list right now, or should you do them both?
Identify your goals
A great way to do this is by asking yourself the following questions: Who are you targeting? What are they looking for? How can you solve their problems? If you’re selling a product, what are the features of that product? What problem does it solve for them? If you’re providing a service, what are your client’s needs? And finally, how will you help them meet those needs?
Create a visual framework
As you’ve seen, the graphic designer must have a thorough understanding of the product they are creating a design for. They need to be able to quickly take a rough concept and develop it into a final design. Once a design is chosen, they must be able to understand what the product will look like when it’s finished. This is where a graphic designer’s tools come into play. There are so many different programs, plug-ins, and apps to create a beautiful design that it can get confusing.
Capture your initial ideas
This is the time to sit down with your ideas and start sketching out what you want to create. I recommend using a creative app like Procreate or Adobe Draw to get the feel of the finished product and to start sketching out some ideas of how it will look.
I am not a fan of taking photographs of my ideas. For me, it’s more like capturing an idea in a dream. There is something about putting pen to paper that just doesn’t translate to a screen. When I sit down to draw, write, or sketch out my ideas, I’m able to focus on the idea and ignore the clutter of the rest of the world around me. My mind becomes clearer, my body calmer, and I’m more focused. This is the ideal situation for creativity.
Select the right Procreate brushes
A lot of people use apps like Procreate because they’re fun to draw on. But if you want to be able to show off your work at professional conferences or presentations, you need to know which brushes are suitable.
To begin, I suggest using the free brush pack that Procreate offers. They offer 20+ pro-quality Procreate brushes in both the regular and the paid versions of the program. The free brush pack includes both natural and photo-realistic brushes. The pro version includes even more brushes, including those with various textures. Once you get to know the brushes inside and out, you can create your own custom brushes or purchase additional brush packs in order to expand your collection.
Choose the right colors
Procreate is a great tool for artists who love to experiment with color, but it can also be used for creating marketing collateral like posters, brochures, and websites. If you’re designing for print, you’ll need to have the colors in mind from the start.

The second thing to keep in mind is the proximity of the colors you’re choosing. If you want your product to look appealing and fresh, make sure that the colors on your palette are placed close together so that they stand out.
Draw your ideas
So you have a ton of ideas in your head, but the problem is they’re all so cluttered up with different thoughts and feelings and stuff, you can’t see what they all mean and how they’re connected. Or maybe you have a bunch of different ideas in your head and no idea how to turn them into a single coherent image.
Creativity is all about doing new things and thinking outside the box. It’s not about following the rules that others have set. It’s about finding a way to do something different. It’s all about doing something that no one else is doing, but at the same time, making sure that your work is good enough so that people will like it. It’s about finding a way to make your own version of something, but still keeping the essence of the original. It’s about using your imagination, so don’t be afraid to go outside of the box and do things differently. You should also keep in mind that people who are different are the ones who are most creative. If you are not creative, then you won’t be able to find ways to get new ideas.
